Our intensive outpatient program is located in the Embarcadero building on a quiet street in beautiful downtown San Francisco. Everything for our IOP takes place in the same building: process groups, individual sessions, and holistic offerings, such as yoga, acupuncture and massage therapy. You can experience all of this while surrounded by calming views of the San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. Parking, which is at a premium in the city, is also provided on-site.
Google Rating: 2.3 out of 5 stars (3 total ratings)
Ben1 StarStaff: 1/5- Dr. Pappas served as both the mouthpiece and backbone of this program, without her foundations wouldn’t be in business. (like Michael Jordan playing with a special needs team)
Clients (based on willingness to retain information and apply material to sobriety): 1/5
Clients appeared to be going through the motions..either court or employer mandated. Nobody seemed to take any of the material serious but also followed the counselors lead in their lack of interest, sincerity and commitment.
Individual Therapy: (Psychologist and Psychiatrist) 4/5:
Led by Dr. Bertram and Dr. Pappas, the only respectable component of the program, consistent communication, genuine interest and an understanding in clients wellbeing, humble and personable while serving clients needs.
Structure/Organization/Communication: 1/5
The intake director (in charge of facilitating appointments and scheduling) One of the most disorganized human beings I’ve ever met, missed several therapy appointments and groups due to her relaying the wrong times and information) not sure why she has a job in recovery, had no idea how to speak with people in recovery. Incredibly condescending and doesn’t know any of the clients names.
Overall Program Execution:
2/5
Outside of Pappas this program is an absolute mockery of efficiency, structure and dependability. This program lacks the qualities of a functioning business for addicts and alcoholics who are seeking help. They stay in auto pilot mode, going through the motions, barely meet the minimum requirements without offering any real substance,
support or authenticity. Money hungry, values folks who pay out of pocket more than others on insurance. This program sincerely feels like a simulation of a real program filled with regurgitated powerpoint slides, arrogant counselors and a general environment that is not conducive to gaining the essentials of the post inpatient recovery process.Tuesday 30th March 2021
Chris Schmidt1 StarIt's a sham. You'll pay thousands for art therapy, a yoga room, and therapists whose go-to prescription is AA meetings. Unfortunately outpatient programs like this aren't based in science, but rather outdated dogma. You're better off getting a Naltrexone scrip, attending SMART and/or Refuge, and trying out the Sinclair Method (though I'm definitely not a doctor). Harm reduction is a viable thing.Thursday 30th May 2019
