Nita Reed5 StarHolland Lake has been a wonderful place for my brother whom was a high fall risk at home and ended up fracturing his skull. We sent him to Holland Lake for Rehab and received the best care from the WONDERFUL Rehab team. Unfortunately his brain couldn’t function as well so we had him go to the LTC side of Holland Lake where he gets the care from great nurses and aids that help him with his daily needs. He is now the bingo king and socializing has been GREAT with the activity director that is very involved with the residents. I have seen a GREAT improvement for my brother and the management has gone above and beyond to assist in any way to help Richard transition to his new life. We couldn’t have done it without the Social Worker and Business Office Manager with advice and direction. I give this facility a 5 star for their services!!Friday 25th March 2022
Darlene Green5 StarMy husband was recently in this rehab center after a terrible injury to both legs. He was showing great progress after 3 days. The nurses and staff were wonderful. Vivian Minnex was very helpful getting him registered and any questions that I had. Donna Tillman ,the administrator was a great asset also. I can truly recommend Holland Lake to anyone.Monday 29th November 2021
Monica1 StarMy father fell and fractured both femurs and stayed here to recover from his surgery in July 2020 and was there for just under a month. During this stay, the incompetent staff allowed one of my father’s surgery wounds to get heavily infected. Due to COVID and restrictions at the time, we were not allowed to visit in-person. We had to rely on facetime and phone calls to ensure he was getting proper care—and he didn’t. He trusted them during the wound care—didn’t want to look at it when they cleaned it, and we didn’t think to say—remove all your dressings so we can see the wound—we trusted them too. When he was released, home health removed the bandage covering the infection and immediately said take him to the emergency room. This led to a near month-long hospital stay and a lot of wound care that was very painful for my father and caused my family a lot of distress.
I called Rhonda Edwards at the establishment and tried to get answers. She tried to tell me that this happened over a couple of days. The home health nurse and everyone at the hospital said this does not happen after a couple of days. I sent Rhonda images and she herself was shocked and admitted that there was no way this occurred in a matter of a couple of days. She said she was investigating the matter, but her information never added up to the facts I had noted myself over the course of his stay. She tried to say they had no idea, but my father noted names and dates that someone had specifically said wound care would need to take a look, but wound care never came. She then claimed that they were waiting for wound care to be in the building next, instead of calling someone in immediately. She even implied at one point that maybe my father wanted to die and let the infection go on because he was depressed—saying that he had a conversation with her driver that made him think he was feeling down about his condition. This was not the case and for her to suggest this—was appalling.
She said she had meetings with the staff and said this would never happen again. But hopefully it doesn’t because you avoid this place at all costs. She also said that she would mail me a copy of her investigation and I never received it. I tried to call her several more times and she never returned my call—I never got that report.Saturday 18th December 2021
Andrew Bautz5 StarMy Dad was a rehab patient at Holland Lake for approximately 1 week. The staff was very friendly and helped him get stronger so he could return home. I agree that they could use more staff but from the nurses to admin, all the Holland Lake staff went out of their way to make things as good as possible and were happy to communicate with us. I really appreciated.Thursday 18th November 2021
