COVID-19 UPDATES

We hope this message finds you well during these uncertain times.

In the last four and a half years, you have all become like family to us. In that spirit, we are making all efforts to guide and protect you through these next few weeks and months.
Effectively immediately, in the interest of protecting your health, we are going to move almost all services to a telehealth/telemedicine virtual platform.

We are NOT closing and we are NOT going to disrupt your services. Instead, we’re going to change how we do things in order to make this as safe as possible for everybody. Our plan will also address all court ordered DUI counseling and evaluations, as well as our continued work with the incarcerated population, with the Chief Judge of Kane County giving us permission to proceed in this fashion. Your counseling hours WILL count toward your court ordered hours, and your ability to complete these hours on time will not be interrupted.

Here’s how this is going to work. Within the next day, we will provide a detailed email regarding the specific platform we will ask you to download onto a desktop, tablet, or phone. The platform will enable you to ‘conference-in’ to a video-based group, which will be smaller than a regular group and run on a specific schedule throughout the week. We will also be offering individual counseling through this format. These sessions will be HIPAA compliant, and all protections afforded to you through face-to-face interactions will be maintained.

There are no groups offered tonight, 3/16/2020 or tomorrow 3/17/2020. We are doing everything we can to get this live by Wednesday night, 3/18/2020, and details will follow in a subsequent email. This will apply to all IOP, OP, DUI risk education, and DUI counseling groups. MAT clients will also receive services in this way, but will have the ability to speak directly with the Lighthouse Recovery Medical Director or the Lighthouse Recovery Clinical Director through this platform. Again - your services will not be interrupted.

We may get completely run over by the insurance companies for doing this, but that is not our primary concern - YOU are. Our family of clients at Lighthouse includes some of the most vulnerable in our population – the uninsured, the homeless, pregnant women, the incarcerated, people with complex medical issues – all of whom are at a different risk level for contracting this virus. One of our biggest concerns is that the risk for transmission by people without symptoms appears to be just as worrisome as the risk for transmission by those who do show symptoms. As a result, we cannot in good conscience require you to be present in a room with 15 other people on a nightly basis in order to get the help you need.

We will not abandon you during this time. While we don’t know how long these protocols will be necessary, we are refusing to enter this uncharted territory without a plan for sustainable service delivery to you – our clients and our family.
