Ultimately, I didn’t get the help I needed here. Some residents were very nice, but it was an extremely “cliquey” environment reminiscent of high school and if you tend to be quiet or have trouble fitting in to new friend groups you will have a terrible time here. The group sessions I found to be mostly pointless- they basically just read off of a paper without much useful class discussion. I found it hard to apply what was taught to my real life struggles. However, I did thoroughly enjoy the meditation/deep breathing classes and found them very helpful. The yoga instructor who instructs those is phenomenal- very personable and helpful. Otherwise my stay here felt like there just wasn’t enough individualized care and it was mostly walking around attending groups that didn’t help me. My therapist was very nice but I feel like she failed to really dig into the root problems that I was struggling to verbalize which is what I came here for. Trying to do laundry is a NIGHTMARE: you must get someone to unlock your room to get it, then go down 2 flights to have them unlock the laundry room, have that staff go up again to unlock your door to put the laundry basket back so it doesn’t get stolen, then later have someone unlock the laundry room again to rotate your laundry, and then repeat the process to collect your laundry and have your room opened again. Beyond frustrating for both residents and staff. Eventually I ended up feeling so lonely and hopeless of getting better here that I developed intense suicidal thoughts and plans that led me to leaving and being hospitalized. Found it to be a mostly total waste of time and money but I will say the food is EXCELLENT and was the one silver lining during my stay. I can’t thank the cooks enough for providing creative restaurant quality meals to enjoy while I was away from home and my loved ones.

We had a family member in the Residential program. We knew nothing of the facility and were very skeptical after reading reviews online. Our experience was extremely good. Its not a resort. The staff isn't at your beck and call and you need to be responsible for your own mental health. The staff was helpful, kind, and available when needed. There were many groups available, activities and one-to-one counseling. We are thrilled at the progress our family member achieved and are hopeful now for the future. On a side note; I have been told that the food was amazing!

Pasadena Villa is a wonderful place. I was here for 30+ days and had a great experience. The food is good, the staff is nice and the mountains are beautiful, especially in the winter. If you are coming here bring anything you want to and the staff will allow you to keep most of your belongings. If you have any questions feel free to call the lodge and ask Julia or Christina any questions that you may have. Have a Blessed Journey -CM

I spent 4 weeks here to deal with multiple traumas in my life and get help with cognitive behavioral issues as well as generalized anxiety and depression. My stay at Smoky Mountain Lodge was everything I hoped for and more. There are residents from all different walks of life with all kinds of different things they are healing from. There was a really strong peer support group and I really connected with the people there. I'll never forget them. The classes were extremely helpful and informative. I have done decades of counseling and therapies and felt like the classes presented the information in new ways that I could absorb and implement into my life. I really enjoyed the yoga and art therapy classes. I am a believer in the mind-body connection as it relates to healing, and I think they did a great job of teaching us mindfulness techniques, yoga, emotional regulation techniques like finger tapping, meditation and breath work, and more. The art therapy sessions were awesome and it reminded me of my love for doing art. The staff of therapists are really good and I loved the techs there. They do a great job. I find that if you are friendly and polite to them, they will bend over backwards to help you out. The food is amazing here. The chefs and kitchen staff are awesome. The facility itself is really nice. Breathtaking views of the Smoky Mountains. Cool landscaping with water features that really helped me contemplate and relax. I can't say enough good things about my experience here. It's a different journey for everyone, but I think if you come here to do work and invest fully in it, you will get a lot out of it. Thank you to all the staff for everything. I am doing well so far in the outside world and I have a lot of hope for myself. Wish you all the best.

Nice place and nice staff. When it wasn’t working for me the director guy told me I wasted my and my therapists time and that i was running. My therapist would sit in silence with me for half of our session and wouldn’t take initiative. Then I was blamed for not opening up. It looked to help some people but it is definitely not for everyone. All of the groups are different everyday so nothing has the ability to stick which is disappointing when you went there to learn and get better.
