My father went into Peabody for rehab after a fall. The therapy was sub- par. The staff for the most part was pleasant, but the quality of care was unacceptable. After expressing our concerns numerous times, there was no change. My father contracted Covid-19 before we could get him moved to a different facility. It was a nightmare to say the least. He was transferred to Paddock Springs in Warsaw as soon as he was released from quarantine, and we are happy with the care he is currently receiving! BEWARE, and make sure that if you do place your loved one here, that you are checking up and making sure they are cared for.

Peabody Retirement Home is a great place if you have a loved one. The help is very compassionate in everything they do. Right now during this terrible time with the covid, you can still visit with your loved ones. You have to wear mask and distance which is very understanding. Some retirement homes will not let you do that. So at least I can see my loved one every week.

My mom has been at Peabody in assisted living for three years. My mom is very happy being a part of this community. I feel the staff does a wonderful job caring for her. This has been a very unexpected, stressful and busy year for the staff. During this time, the staff has risen to the occasion and worked to make sure all the residents are well cared for. Peabody has been proactive as well as reactive in this difficult pandemic time. We truly appreciate all your efforts. I receive the automated phone message as well as the daily emails and always look forward to hearing the next steps in the forward progression to tackling this virus. During the summer, I have been able to visit my mom outside for weekly visits. During that time, we walk around the grounds and look at all the flowers. The grounds are very well maintained and my mom really enjoys looking at all the landscaping. I would recommend Peabody to anybody and I'm sure my mom would also!

Years ago, when I was just 15 years old I got my first job in the kitchen at Peabody. This was back in the “old Peabody”. I worked there for the next 4 years until I graduated high school. The very next year I decided I was going to become a CNA and where better to do it than in my back yard. I got my license through the classes they offered and began as a CNA in 2005. I immediately loved what I was doing! It was my passion to help people and i knew there was something special about Peabody. At the beginning of this year I was able to advance from working the floor full-time as a CNA to now being the nursing staff coordinator. I am so grateful for the opportunities Peabody has allowed me. From working in the kitchen to now being responsible for staffing and scheduling all 100+ nursing employees. Thank goodness for the help and support from the nurse managers. I am more than just an employee of Peabody. I also have had family members come to Peabody for therapy and long term care. I had an uncle have a very hard time with cancer and ended up needing to be moved to one of our secure units for his own safety. As he declined, and at such a younger age than most other residents at Peabody, the staff helped maintain his dignity until the very end with such great compassion! My family, especially his children, will be forever grateful for that. So when I had another uncle needing to find rehab after a recent illness, it was a no brainer to bring him to Peabody as well. He ended up staying in long term care to get the best quality of life for him and his wife. They were not disappointed at any time. Let’s talk about 2020 and Covid in the nursing environment. As difficult as it was/is to wear the masks and gowns and do temperature checks and oxygen checks daily. And wash and sanitize, until our hands were so chapped and raw, we did what we had to do. Trying to keep our residents lives as happy and “normal” as possible with out being able to have the physical contact that we all need from our friends and family. Quite possibly one of the hardest times of our lives we stuck it out like a family does. And with tremendous support from our management team and staff. I am blown away when I think about all the precautions our facility has taken especially this past year trying to keep its residents and staff safe and well. Peabody IS the grass that is greener, so to say. :)

As an employee, I have gathered, in a relatively short time, working at Peabody is more than keeping the community going and providing care to the residents. I have witnessed members of the Peabody team take time out of their day, which is not always available, to listen to a resident and provide every effort to help them. Not only do the residents receive first rate care from the nursing staff, but all other employees, from those changing out a light bulb to sending out billing statements, truly care for our residents. It takes a special team to realize and take seriously the responsibility which comes with being a Peabody employee; however, by the joy I see on both the employee and resident's face when an employee spends time in the hall just talking, I realize this is more than a job. I'm confident the resident has the same joy, realizing Peabody is more than just a place to call home.
