If you or a loved one just returned from a residential (or inpatient) treatment center, also known as rehab, you may wonder what happens next.

Coming home and adjusting to daily life after inpatient care can be a challenging transition. Here at Serenity Lane, we want to make sure that this transition is as seamless as possible.

We do this by offering different types of outpatient programs. These programs typically follow day treatment.

After inpatient treatment, a client can go through day treatment (or partial hospitalization). It involves five to seven days of programming a week for up to six hours a day.

Following day treatment, there are two different types of outpatient programs to choose from. The difference is that one is more intensive than the other.

What Are the Different Types of Outpatient Programs?

Our level I outpatient program meets for one and a half hours once a week. The purpose of this is to learn to identify and manage stressful life events and to cope with the inevitable ups and downs of early recovery. It is provided in a community close to the patient’s hometown.

On the other hand, we offer a more intensive option: level IIintensive outpatient. Intensive outpatient is a rigorous and comprehensive ten-week program comprised of group therapy, individual counseling, and education about substance use disorders.

Level II intensive outpatient treatment groups meet for three hours, three times per week at one of Serenity Lane’s outpatient clinics’ locations in Albany, Bend, Eugene, Roseburg, Salem, Portland-SouthWest (Barbur), and Portland-SouthEast.

Typically, clients gradually reduce their level of care over time and ease back into daily life. This is why clients usually start by attending our intensive outpatient program and then cut back on programming by following up with our level I outpatient program.

To make our outpatient services even more flexible, we now offer RecoveryNow Virtual outpatient addiction treatment services. This service provides the same programming as the level I outpatient program and the intensive outpatient program. This virtual option uses teleconferencing and includes group sessions and meetings with counselors.

What Happens After Outpatient Treatment?

After completing either outpatient programs or an outpatient program, you have made substantial progress in your journey to recovery.

You can continue to get support in your recovery in several ways. You can attend weekly Alcohol Anonymous groups in your area and prevent relapse through cognitive therapy.
